Cool Quote of the Day

Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against your passion and your appetite…

For reason, ruling alone, is a force confining; and passion, unattended, is a flame that burns to its own destruction.

Cool Quote of the Day

When we move from a place of clear seeing and take actions in such a way that we are not intentionally causing harm to ourselves and others, all that is left is to entrust ourselves to intimacy. Honesty demands that we look after each other for no other reason than the fact of our interconnectedness.

Rainn Wilson talks spiritual revolution

Rainn Wilson is not just the mustard shirt-wearing Dwight Schrute of NBC’s The Office. He’s a big thinker, originator of the website SoulPancake and author of the book of the same name.

In this video he talks about the coming revolution:

I think there’s another revolution coming in the next ten years, and I think it needs to be a spiritual revolution, because our system is just too corrupt and broken… the engines of everything are broken.

The young people, like they did in the ’60s, they’re going to need to take the reins here, to look at the world in a fresh new way and say, “Enough is enough, you guys screwed up, we need to take our planet back.”

I think part of that revolution, part of that journey, needs to be spiritual. It needs to be with a heart-based wisdom that goes hand in hand with science and social activism and love for our planet and our whole human family.

Cool Quote of the Day: Dreaming another world awake

“If you want to take it to a more mystical, spiritual level, they’re dreaming another world awake. That’s the way some of them see it.”

Cool Quote of the Day: Fearlessness and patience

Fearlessness is another ingredient of patience. If you want to practice patience that leads to the cessation of suffering, to the de-escalation of aggression, it means cultivating a fearlessness that is both compassionate and brave. Because at this point you’re getting to know anger and how it easily breeds violent words and actions, and this can be decidedly unnerving.

Cool Quote of the Day

Action in the world is not an externally imposed duty or simply a preliminary stage on the path to greater awareness but is in itself a valid spiritual path and an expression of interdependence, freedom, and awakening.
